Stephen Hawking , in full Stephen William Hawking , born January 8, , Oxford , Oxfordshire, England—died March 14, , Cambridge , Cambridgeshire , English theoretical physicist whose theory of exploding black holes drew upon both relativity theory and quantum mechanics. He also worked with space-time singularities. Stephen Hawking worked on the physics of black holes. He proposed that black holes would emit subatomic particles until they eventually exploded. Hawking studied physics at University College, Oxford B. He was elected a research fellow at Gonville and Caius College at Cambridge.

Stephen Hawking: A Life in Science
Hawking was born in Oxford into a family of doctors. Hawking began his university education at University College, Oxford in October at the age of 17, where he received a first-class BA Hons. He began his graduate work at Trinity Hall, Cambridge in October , where he obtained his PhD degree in applied mathematics and theoretical physics, specialising in general relativity and cosmology in March During this period—in —Hawking was diagnosed with an early-onset slow-progressing form of motor neurone disease also known as amyotrophic lateral sclerosis ALS or Lou Gehrig's disease that gradually paralysed him over the decades. Hawking's scientific works included a collaboration with Roger Penrose on gravitational singularity theorems in the framework of general relativity and the theoretical prediction that black holes emit radiation, often called Hawking radiation. Initially, Hawking radiation was controversial. By the late s and following the publication of further research, the discovery was widely accepted as a significant breakthrough in theoretical physics.
He could just take her from me, of course, but he wanted her to come willingly. Oh my God, I thought, surprise rocketing through me. There was no confusion in that look, and certainly no softness. Still, when he had gotten to his feet to leave this house and drive down the hill to town, her cold hand had stopped him, and he had ended up in this same bed, with a vigorous and intense night followed by a slow and climactic morning. That had been a lighthearted night, punctuated by laughter and the electrifying sensation of Anne seized by giggles while he was deep inside her, and she had turned to him in the morning with a sort of farewell affection. The fiasco aged her badly, and when Glen had last seen her, in a Bethesda surgical ward, she would not meet his eyes.
Stephen William Hawking: A Biographical Memoir
Stephen Hawking was regarded as one of the most brilliant theoretical physicists in history. His work on the origins and structure of the universe, from the Big Bang to black holes, revolutionized the field, while his best-selling books have appealed to readers who may not have Hawking's scientific background. Hawking died on March 14, In this brief biography, we look at Hawking's education and career — ranging from his discoveries to the popular books he's written — and the disease that robbed him of mobility and speech.
A challenging life
Умно, - сказала Сьюзан. Стратмор продолжал: - Несколько раз Танкадо публично называл имя своего партнера. North Dakota.
